About
Sima is a South Asian multidisciplinary artist and animator who uses vibrant colour, character, and playful design to tell stories that invite connection. Her work transforms public spaces into welcoming environments of storytelling, imagination, and belonging, often exploring themes of culture, nature, movement, and community care.
A graduate of Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Animation program (2023), Sima experiments across mediums -from animation and film to large-scale murals- to create narratives that promote exploration. Her animated films have screened internationally, including at the Ottawa International Animation Festival and Seoul Indie-Ani Fest, and her graduate film My Friend in the Jingle Truck is featured on CBC Gem and has received multiple awards, including Best Animation at CILECT North America (2024).
Her public artworks can be found across the Greater Toronto Area, created in collaboration with organizations such as StreetARToronto, STEPS Public Art, and several municipalities. She is the recipient of the Emerging Visual Arts, Multimedia Award at the 2024 Mississauga Arts Awards and is currently directing her debut short film, In the Mess of Leaves, continuing her practice of creating warm, meaningful stories that make a positive impact on her community.
